The end of the year is approaching, so it's awards time. Here's another piece of awards news!
Jim Scibek, a Certified Virginia Master Naturalist in the Central Rappahannock Chapter, received the Alvin Staples Leisure Program Volunteer of the Year Award at the recent annual Fredericksburg Recreation Commission Volunteer Banquet. Linda Bailey, Nature Education Coordinator for the Fredericksburg Parks and Recreation Department, nominated him and wrote "I can think of no finer person to win this award. As you all know, he gives selflessly of his time to so many organizations, including the Virginia Master Naturalists, and has been the most prolific volunteer at the Motts Run Nature Center for the past several years, donating approximately 500 hours of his time!" Jim helped get the Central Rappahannock Master Naturalist Chapter started in 2006 and has served in a leadership role since that time. He's continued to be a Certified Virginia Master Naturalist since 2007. Congratulations, Jim!
