Day of Service at Virginia State Parks

For Virginia Master Naturalists and other community members interested in helping Virginia's wonderful state parks, January 17 is a great time to learn about opportunities near you. January 17 is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and also a nationally recognized Day of Service. State parks across Virginia are holding volunteer events, many of which are designed to engage new volunteers in the parks. Visit the Virginia State Parks blog site to see what is happening in a park near you. As one example, Virginia Master Naturalist (Central Piedmont Chapter) and park ranger (Bear Creek Lake State Park) Tom Kneipp will be offering a community presentation in Powhatan on the roles that state park volunteers play in conservation.
